Build Your Toolkit is an independent finder for the software you work with every day: dictation, AI meeting notes, screen capture, email, to-do lists, scheduling, newsletters and website builders. It asks what you need, shows only the apps that meet every answer, and puts the ones reviewers recommend most in the middle. It's the sister site of Build Your Setup, which does the same for desk gear.
How apps are chosen
Each app is described from its maker's own pages: what it runs on, what it does and what it costs. An app shows for your answers only if it meets all of them. Among those, apps that independent reviewers recommend come first. We don't test apps ourselves, and nothing is paid to be placed higher.
When an answer would leave nothing, its tile is greyed out and says which earlier answer is in the way, so you can loosen the right one.
The guides use the same ranking for common needs, like the best dictation apps for Mac or AI note takers that don't send a bot into your calls.
Prices
Every price comes from the maker's pricing page, with the date we checked it. Plans change often, so check the maker's page before you pay.
How Build Your Toolkit earns money
Some links are affiliate links. If you sign up for a paid plan through one, the app's maker may pay us a commission. It doesn't change what you pay, and it has no bearing on which apps are shown or in what order. The disclosure explains how it works.
Privacy
Build Your Toolkit has no accounts, sets no cookies and runs no analytics. Your answers live in the page address, so you can share a result by sharing the link. The privacy policy has the details, and the terms of use cover the rest.
